Trauma and PTSD

It’s not just veterans and first responders…

It can be and certainly is, but trauma can happen to anyone exposed to physical, sexual, or emotional violence.

It happens in war zones and on the frontlines, but it also happens with transgressions at home, on social media, and crimes in our communities.

Other “assaults” can constitute trauma, too…

… even though you might think of them as just “ugly parts” of “normal life.”

Chronic gaslighting.

A narcissistic parent or spouse.

An abusive employer.

A close friend or family member with mental health or substance issues.

Let’s talk about it.

At your first appointment, we’ll talk about what you’ve gone through, and we’ll create a treatment plan that aligns with your goals.

We’ll take a trauma-informed approach, using traditional talk therapy and incorporating tools like EMDR , parts work, and somatic experiencing. We’ll work collaboratively to create a personalized plan that assures your safety and grants you the compassion you deserve.

Whatever approach we use and personal goals you might have, we’ll:

  • Gently process the trauma, your thoughts, and your emotions.
  • Reduce nightmares, flashbacks, chronic arousal, and distorted beliefs about your worth.
  • Lessen the emotional and physical reactivity to cues that remind you of your trauma.
  • Shift the trauma from something that’s happening NOW to something that happened in the PAST.
  • Learn to trust yourself and others.

Therapy will make you feel more at peace and capable of engaging in healthy relationships again.

You deserve peace.

Let’s start working through your trauma together.
